The Portland Trail Blazers continued to shore up the Rip City Remix roster by signing a free agent, plus two players they acquired via trade earlier in the week. According to the Oregonian’s Joe Freeman, Mark Armstrong, Keylan Boone, and Samson Johnson will join Blazers training camp on Exhibit 10 contracts and are expected to be on Portland G-League affiliate afterward.
Mark Armstrong is a 6’1” point guard who went undrafted after two years at Villanova before starting his professional career in the G-League. Last year, he averaged 12.3 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 2.4 assists on 43/28/84 (FG/3PT/FT) shooting for the Texas Legends.
Keylan Boone is a former UNLV swingman, where he was teammates with his twin brother and former Rip City Remix forward, Kalib Boone. Keylan spent last year playing for the Southland Sharks in the New Zealand NBL, where he averaged 17.5 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 1 assist on 51/34/88 shooting.
Samson Johnson was Donovan Clingan’s backup during UConn’s successful NCAA title defense in 2023-24. He went undrafted after his senior year, starting his professional career in the G-League, where he averaged 9.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.6 assists on 70.3% FG in his rookie season for the Noblesville Boom.
The signings came in the nick of time for all three to join Blazers training camp, which starts one week from today on September 29th.
