Female jogger says she was sexually assaulted by armed male near Stanford campus

An armed male allegedly sexually assaulted a female jogger near the Stanford University campus Sunday evening, according to the university’s department of public safety.

The sexual assault reportedly happened at about 6:15 p.m. in the area of Mayfield Avenue and Santa Ynez Street, the department of public safety said.

The victim reported being grabbed by the suspect and pushed into a landscaped area near a house where she was then sexually assaulted, according to the department of public safety.

The suspect was described as a darker skinned male with brown eyes, short hair and clean shaven, according to the department of public safety. He was wearing a light blue hoodie, dark jeans and a thick braided bracelet on his left wrist. He also had a semi-automatic handgun in the waistband of his pants.
