A juvenile driver was arrested over the weekend on suspicion of driving under the influence following a deadly crash in San Jose, police said Monday.
The collision happened at about 1:05 a.m. Sunday in the area of Curtner Avenue and the southbound Highway 87 off-ramp, according to police.
Citing a preliminary investigation, police said the juvenile male was driving a Honda accord with a woman as a passenger. They were heading westbound on Curtner Avenue when they crashed into a Chevrolet Malibu turning onto eastbound Curtner from the southbound Highway 87 off-ramp.
A man driving the Chevy Malibu died at the scene, police said. His identity will be released by the Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner.
The juvenile driver and the woman were taken to a local hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
The juvenile was then booked into juvenile hall for felony driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter, police said. His exact age wasn’t immediately known.
This marked San Jose’s 10th deadly collision of 2026, according to police.
