A person died following a major crash in Hayward Thursday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP said the fatal solo-vehicle crash closed part of northbound Foothill Boulevard at Ash Street. The second and third lanes southbound Highway 230 at Ash Street were closed due to a fallen tree.
CHP said the lanes are expected to reopen after 9 p.m.
