How Silicon Valley technology is playing a key role in the Artemis II moon mission

Silicon Valley technology is playing a crucial role in the United States’ upcoming moon mission.

As part of the Artemis II mission, four astronauts will embark on a 10-day mission around the moon before returning to earth. The launch window is April 1 through April 6.

A lot of the science on the rocket comes from NASA Ames in Mountain View. Some of the re-entry and safety technology on board also comes from Ames. When it comes to aerodynamics, a lot of the testing prior to launch took place in the Ames wind tunnel.

NBC Bay Area’s Scott Budman has more in the video report above.
