After a slow start in south Philadelphia, Penn State football cruised its way to a 27-9 win over Temple at Lincoln Financial Field on Saturday afternoon. While a handful of errors and some sloppy play in the first quarter will give Matt Campbell plenty to work on, it was a relatively stress-free win at the end of the day.
While the Nittany Lions eventually were able to shift into first gear, the start of the game was slightly scary. For some fans, it evoked visions of the last time Penn State traveled to play Temple at the Linc.
It’s no secret that Penn State has strong contingent of fans in the Philly area, and it’s no secret that Temple fans aren’t always super fond of them. Jabs were flying left and right.
But, at the end of the day, it’s all brotherly love.
When Ben Brahmer found paydirt right before halfitme, fans could let out a sigh of relief. Still work to be done, but Penn State had already proven it could move the ball and had now proved that it could score touchdowns, too.
The second half was a bit more of a snooze fest than the first. Penn State made some promising adjustments in the locker room and put the game away.
Luckily for Penn State, its win over Temple was hardly the most interesting result of Saturday’s college football slate. It was a big day for Big Ten hate watchers as both Oregon and Ohio State had big losses.
