Body camera footage captured the moment when a man accused of attacking another man in Surfside because he was Jewish was arrested.
Jorden Stephen Perozo, 35, is facing battery with prejudice and harrassment/intimidate based on religious or ethnic heritage charges, according to an arrest affidavit.
The attack happened a week ago at 95th Street and Harding Avenue while the victim and his wife were walking in the area and were approached by the suspect, police said.
Perozo rode up to the couple on an electric scooter and cursed and directed profanity against the victim, his wife and the Jewish community, police said.
In cellphone video, Perozo was seen punching the victim on the side of the head and saying, “Now you’re going to die,” and “Walk away before I kill you.”
He continued telling the victim that he hated him and called the couple “evil demons,” the affidavit said.
In the body camera footage, officers found Perozo at the Flanigan’s Bar and Grill on Harding Avenue, where he works.
He was seen being placed in handcuffs.
“Don’t move, do not resist,” an officer told Perozo.
Perozo appeared in bond court on Thursday, where he was issued a $6,000 bond and was ordered to stay away from the couple.
NBC6 reached out to Flanigan’s for comment and is waiting to hear back.
Perozo was previously arrested back in June after police said he used a box cutter to slash a giant inflatable FIFA soccer ball.
