A fast-moving wildfire near Hopland triggered evacuation orders Saturday, forcing Mendocino County residents from their homes and impacting travel along Highway 101.
The Feliz Fire, burning near Feliz Creek Road, has reached 872 acres and is 10% contained as of Sunday morning.
The fire’s forward progress has been successfully stopped, though mandatory evacuation orders remain in effect, according to Cal Fire.
Evacuation Zones and Traffic:
— Evacuation Orders: Zones MEN-2HOP04 and MEN-2UKV29.
— Evacuation Warnings: Downtown Hopland and zones MEN-2HOP01, MEN-2UKV20, MEN-2UKV21 and MEN-2UKV23.
— Highway 101 remains open with traffic control in place. Officials urge all drivers to use caution in the area.
Local authorities have established multiple locations to assist displaced residents and their animals:
— Temporary Evacuation Point: Mendocino County Office of Education, 2240 Old River Road, Ukiah.
— Evacuation Shelter: Coyote Valley Tribal Gymnasium, 415 Coyote Valley Blvd., Redwood Valley.
— Small Animal Shelter: 298 Plant Road, Ukiah.
— Large Animal Shelter: Redwood Empire Fairgrounds, 1055 N. State St., Ukiah.
