Shots were fired in a McDonald’s parking lot during an online meet-up for a purchase, East Haven police said.
The shooting happened around 2 p.m. Thursday on Main Street. When officers got to the scene, they found several people and spent shell casings. The people who remained at the scene cooperated with police, officials said.
According to officials, the people were there to meet a person they had contact with online who expressed interest in buying an item for sale.
When the people handed the item over to the suspect, a struggle broke out. According to police, at one point, the suspect pulled out a gun. As the people fought over control of the gun, several shots fired.
The suspect then ran from the area. Police said no one was injured by gunfire.
Anyone with video that may be relevant to the investigation is asked to contact East Haven Detective John Fraenza at jfraenza@easthavenpolice.com.
