Judge sentences New Haven man involved in Olympian's mother stray-bullet murder

On Thursday a New Haven man was sentenced to serve 25 years in prison for his role in a shooting that killed a Waterbury woman inside her home.

Family members of the shooting victim, Mabel Martinez Antongiorgi were present in the courtroom as 38-year-old Levi Brock was sentenced after accepting a plea deal to first-degree manslaughter involving a firearm in November of 2025.

Martinez-Antongiorgi’s sister-in-law, Eulalia Feliciano, addressed the court during emotional victim impact statements, describing how the April 9, 2022, killing permanently altered their lives.

“Life has continued around us but part of our heart stopped on April 9,” Feliciano said.

Despite some years passed, Feliciano said the family continues to struggle with their grief.

“We no longer engage in simple routines that once brought us joy, decorating our house, visiting friends or planning celebrations,” she said.

Feliciano also addressed Brock directly, blaming his actions for the loss of Martinez Antongiorgi.

“On that day Levi made the irresponsible and dangerous choice to drive around looking to harm others and in doing so ended the life of our beloved Mabel,” she said.

According to Waterbury police, Martinez Antongiorgi was struck by a stray bullet while inside her home.

Investigators said Brock and Franklin Robinson and Jasper Greene were attempting to shoot a man they had a dispute with when a bullet traveled through a wall of Martinez-Antongiorgi’s home, killing her.

Supervisory Assistant State’s Attorney Don E. Therkildsen Jr. said forensic evidence and video showed Brock’s firearm did not discharge during the incident. However, prosecutors argued Brock was still criminally responsible for his role in bringing another individual to the scene.

“However he still was responsible for reaching out to Mr. Green and bringing him to that scene,” Therkildsen said, asking the court to impose the sentence.

Brock declined to speak during the hearing, but his attorney, Pat Brown, addressed the court, expressing hope the sentencing would help the family begin to heal.

“I hope the conclusion of this long case today helps bring some closure to the family members of the victim,” Brown said.

Martinez Antongiorgi’s daughter, Yarimar Mercado Martinez, is a competitive rifle shooter who has represented Puerto Rico in the 2016, 2021 and 2024 Olympic Games.

The two other men involved in the shooting are also serving prison sentences.

Robinson was sentenced to serve 90 years in 2023 while Green was sentenced to 33 years in June of 2025.
