After a year since the fires were put out, several remembrances in the Palisades and Altadena will focus on the resilience of the survivors and how much still is ahead for the communities.
Combined, the Eaton Fire in Altadena and the Palisades Fire near Malibu killed at least 31 people and destroyed more than 15,000 homes and other structures.
Families in Altadena described the Eaton Fire as a warzone as the fire consumed everything in 29 of the 36 homes in their neighborhood.
