Aaron Danks unsure how long he’ll be in charge at Bayern Munich

There is still no timeline for Vincent Kompany’s return to Bayern Munich, with interim head coach Aaron Danks reiterating that the Belgian’s recovery remains the priority following his discharge from the hospital.

Kompany’s return home is an encouraging step, allowing him to recover in familiar surroundings and spend more time with his family. However, Bayern Munich is not putting any pressure on their head coach to return before he is fully fit and healthy.

Danks addressed the situation ahead of Bayern Munich’s upcoming fixtures, including Saturday’s crucial Der Klassiker against Borussia Dortmund, explaining that the team will continue working together while Kompany focuses on his recovery.

“I still don’t feel like there’s any timeline on it. It’s obviously a really positive step in his road to recovery, and he gets to settle back at home now, be closer to his family, be closer to his home comfort—but it’s still really important that he takes his rest and he recovers. There’s nothing that I’ve been told—our doctors will continue to work closely with Vince, and at the right moment he’ll be back with us once he’s fit and healthy. We look forward to that day. But in the meantime, we just continue to push forward as a group with the players and staff, and keep working hard,” Danks said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).

With Bayern continuing to compete on multiple fronts, Danks and the coaching staff will have to maintain their momentum without Kompany on the touchline.
