Happy Bi Visibility Day to all who celebrate! Especially to Olympic gold medalist Amber Glenn and Ilya Rozanov.
Glenn, who came out as bi/pansexual in 2019, performed a tango to the DJ Harrison cover of “All The Things She Said” (better known as the Heated Rivalry version) on Tuesday’s episode of Dancing with the Stars. Although the song was originally released in 2002 by Russian pop duo t.A.T.u, it earned its place on DWTS’s Viral Hits night after it was featured on the situationship show to end all situationships in 2025. Specifically, the song became an anthem of the show after soundtracking a pivotal moment in the fourth episode. You just had to be there.
Glenn has been riding for Heated Rivalry since the show’s release in November. The adaptation of Rachel Reid’s book series took many by storm, functionally rewiring the internet’s collective brain with its combination of beautiful love stories, unprecedented representation for queer athletes, and really, really hot guys. Although Glenn might’ve been the only athlete inspired by Heated Rivalry to create her own sapphic retellings of some classic scenes (alongside content creator Lena Lemon, the proverbial Shane to her Ilya), she was certainly not the only one who was moved by the story. Jesse Korteum, a real-life hockey player, credited the success of the show with helping him come out as gay. As the first openly queer U.S. women’s singles champion and an advocate for the LGBTQ+ community, this story is something she’s committed to uplifting.
In an interview with Extra following her DWTS tango (which landed her in a tie at the top of the leaderboard, because all queer people do is win), Glenn said, “Heated Rivalry was such an iconic moment for the queer community, and especially as a pro athlete, seeing the struggles of some people being able…to be their true selves in the public eye without fear of scrutiny and of losing…what they’ve been working for their whole lives just by being who they are. That’s a struggle that I felt, and I know many athletes feel. So having [Heated Rivalry] as a huge success, I want to be able to celebrate it as much as I can.”
