National Treasure Andrew Garfield Reported Safe by Owen Thiele After Emergency Plane Landing

This just in: Universally beloved actor and national treasure (of both the U.S. and U.K.) Andrew Garfield is OK after his plane made an emergency landing in Albuquerque, New Mexico on Wednesday night. Thankfully, Owen Thiele was in the cabin to keep Garfield safe.

OK, not really—but Thiele’s role in this story was essential: The Adults star, podcaster, and now boots-on-the-ground journalist was the one to break the story that Garfield (and others) were OK via a series of Instagram stories. The saga unfolded on Thiele’s social media as follows:

“We just had an emergency landing in Albuquerque. Any recs?”

“Andrew Garfield on my flight. If plane went down it would’ve said Andrew Garfield and others”

“Nick Robinson here too. Andrew Garfield, Nick Robinson, and others.”

Professional sleuths (read: randoms on Twitter) have since brought to my attention that Garfield must get to New York for his Thursday appearance on Good Morning America, to promote his new medieval action film, The Uprising. But the important thing is that he (and others) are safe. So, thank you, Owen!

Professional sleuths have also brought to my attention that a Love Island contestant, Dylan Wrona, was on this flight as well. (Seriously, what would we do without Instagram stories?) I wasn’t aware of who Mr. Wrona was at first, but after skimming a Peacock web page titled “All About Dylan Wrona, the Love Island USA Season 8 Casa Amor Bombshell,” I can report that he is an “LA-based model and surfer.”

Wrona apparently coupled up with Kenzie Annis in the Villa, but “Dylan’s relationship with Kenzie has faced tension after her continued exploration with another Islander, creating emotional fallout and setting up further drama during Movie Night.” So… yeah. He also live-posted the whole ordeal, writing on Instagram: “Stuck here till 11:30 pm. (frustrated emoji) I was already supposed to be in NYC by now (crying emoji).” Though the silver lining is that it looks like he met Garfield after deplaning, and they even snapped a selfie. Question: Do we think Garfield is an enjoyer of Love Island?

Still, the saga doesn’t end there. Once in Albuquerque, Thiele seemed to start a new life after forming an Adults-esque friend group at the airport. They got drinks at the airport bar and went to Dave & Buster’s, because that’s apparently what there is to do in Albuquerque. Sadly, Garfield, Robinson, and the Love Island guy were not in attendance at the Dave & Buster’s outing.

All this to say: If Garfield looks tired during his segment on Good Morning America, cut him some slack. It was a long night.
