United Illuminating cut power in downtown Derby Wednesday after a “major fire” broke out at Baretta Landscaping on Factory Street, the city said in a Facebook post.
Derby firefighters responded to a call at 8:51 a.m. for a fire at the former Housatonic Lumber building, which is now used for commercial landscaping storage. Power was later restored, according to fire officials.
“We thank our fire fighters, first responders and police department for their quick and professional response in these bitter cold conditions,” the city wrote in the post. “Our hope is that everyone stays safe.”
No injuries were reported, according to Tommy Biggs, chief of the Derby Fire Department.
