An investigation is underway in Miami on Monday after a possible intruder was fatally shot, police said.
According to Miami Police, at around 5 a.m., officers arrived at 4606 NW 5th Ave. after receiving reports of an incident involving someone who was believed to have been an intruder.
At the scene, the person was pronounced dead by fire rescue crews.
Their identity was not released.
Police said one person was detained and questioned.
Video showed a handcuffed man being led to a cruiser by officers.
NBC6 spoke to several residents, who said they are tired of feeling unsafe.
“Something’s gotta give. This happens almost every other day,” Sebastian Gonzalez said. “Every other day, it’s a new thing. There’s people robbing your house, break-ins, drug addicts, people stealing your packages off your front porch.”
Jake Schuster and his wife changed routes on their morning walk, running into police tape and walking away uneasily,
“I’m disappointed,” he said. “I hope that the neighborhood becomes safer. We walk our dogs down that path every single day, and some of the neighbors are unruly; some of them have dogs on the loose and not under their control, but generally, it’s safe. But to see this this morning, it’s surprising and concerning.”
