NASHVILLE, Tenn. — With the status of starter Drew Mukuba in question, the Eagles have elevated rookie safety Maximus Pulley for Sunday’s game against the Titans.
Mukuba (knee) popped up on the injury report Thursday. He did not practice on Thursday and was limited on Friday before officially being listed as questionable for this game.
Pulley, 24, is an undrafted rookie from Wofford. Pulley (5-11, 200) did not make the Eagles’ initial 53-man roster but was kept on their practice squad after a solid training camp. This is his first elevation of the season and he will likely make his NFL debut on Sunday at Nissan Stadium.
If Mukuba can’t play on Sunday, expect Marcus Epps and Michael Carter II to be the Eagles’ two safeties in their nickel package. Cooper DeJean will play safety, likely next to Epps, in the Eagles’ base package. Of course, the Eagles are hoping that Mukuba won’t miss this game, even against a lowly Titans team.
The only player the Eagles ruled out for this game was outside linebacker Jonathan Greenard (pectoral), who is still recovering from an injury he suffered before training camp. Greenard this week said he was “super close” to returning but will have to wait until at least Week 3.
The other two key players who were limited this week were Jalen Carter (wrist) and DeJean (calf/abdomen). Both are fully expected to play on Sunday.
The Eagles last week elevated Britain Covey for the season opener. They have since signed him to their 53-man roster. The Eagles still have one open spot on their roster.
