Weeks after the Lindsay Clancy trial ended with a hung jury, her ex-husband, Patrick Clancy, is set to give his first television interview.
Clancy spoke to “60 Minutes” — the conversation with Ross Douthat will air Sunday night, according to CBS News, which posted a video showing Clancy sitting down for the interview.
“This Sunday on 60 Minutes, Patrick Clancy talks about his grief, his memories of his children, and the baseless conspiracy theories that flooded social media since his ex-wife’s murder trial,” post about the interview from CBS News reads.
Clancy testified early on in his ex-wife’s trial over the killing of his and Lindsay’s three children. After he was excused, his emotional 911 call reporting that Lindsay was injured outside the house and the children were fatally injured inside was played for the jury and those in court.
Clancy so far hasn’t released any statements of his own about the intensely scrutinized court case, but his lawyers have released two.
In the first, attorney David Meier wrote, “Patrick Clancy is grateful to the Court and to the jurors for their hard work, their commitment, and their perseverance. The loss of Patrick’s children is something from which he will never recover and from which there will never be closure. The prospect of reliving this tragedy through another trial is extraordinarily painful — for Patrick, for his family, and for all of us.”
Several days later, attorney Howard Cooper shared a new statement addressing “a relentless, escalating and destructive defamation campaign” that Clancy had his family were dealing with — while Lindsay’s legal defense was built on acknowledging that she killed their three children, and Patrick has never been accused of a crime in the case, people who’ve followed it have suggested he was somehow responsible.
“Enough is enough — this spread of blatant and baseless falsehoods must stop. Those responsible should understand that there will be consequences, and every appropriate measure will be pursued to hold them accountable, including legally. Law enforcement has been notified,” Cooper said.
Both Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz and Lindsay Clancy defense attorney Kevin Reddington have pushed back on those theories in the wake of the judge declaring a mistrial.
