Watzke denies ‘friends takeover’ assertion by Hoeneß (Sky Germany via @iMiaSanMia)
When Bayern Munich supervisory board member Uli Hoeneß stated that he was a little perturbed with the alleged “Jürgen Klopp & Friends” takeover of the DFB, there was always going to be some blow back.
Sure enough, we got it — courtesy of former Borussia Dortmund executive Hans-Joachim Watzke:
Uli Hoeneß recently said about Jürgen Klopp being appointed as Germany head coach and bringing his agent with him to the DFB: ‘The whole thing seems like a ‘friends takeover’ to me. Klopp and co. have taken over the DFB and I think that’s wrong.’
Hans-Joachim Watzke responds to Hoeneß: “I simply have a different opinion than him. I don’t know what that has to do with a ‘friends takeover.’ – The last two national team coaches came from FC Bayern – Julian Nagelsmann and Hansi Flick. Nobody said that was a friendly takeover by FC Bayern. That’s a bit too much for me. And the fact that you give a coach with the reputation of Jürgen Klopp a certain amount of leeway is just the way it is. Uli knows that better than anyone. He’s had the best coaches in the world at Bayern. That’s perfectly normal; every coach has some ideas about his staff. Vincent Kompany also brought a few people with him. That has nothing to do with a friends takeover.”
An important adage to remember here is that beggars can’t be choosers as we say here in the USA. Germany was desperate and had zero good, realistic options. Friends, no friends…it doesn’t matter, this is Klopp’s show.

Early on Tuesday, Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reported that Bayern Munich attacker Felipe Chávez had narrowed his loan destinations down to two potential destinations — FC Magdeburg or CF Estrela Amadora:
As things stand, Felipe Chávez is set for a loan move either to FC Magdeburg in the 2. Bundesliga or CF Estrela Amadora in Portugal’s top flight. Magdeburg have already held very concrete talks with the Peru international.
Later, Plettenberg’s colleague, Kerry Hau, would check in to say that Chávez made his decision:
Excl.: Felipe Chávez is switching on loan from FC Bayern to 1. FC Magdeburg! There is now a complete agreement on a one-year loan with an option to buy. The 19-year-old attacking talent is expected for a medical check with the second-division club on Wednesday.

Liverpool is not against selling Cody Gakpo, but the Reds do want to make sure that they get Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola before making a move:

Fernández headed to City? (ESPN)
Manchester City could be getting close to a move for Chelsea’s Enzo Fernández:
Manchester City are ready to meet Chelsea’s £120 million asking price for the transfer of midfielder Enzo Fernández, according to Football Insider. The Argentina international has emerged as a top target for City as new manager Enzo Maresca looks to rebuild his midfield following the departures of Rodri and Tijjani Reijnders. The pair of big-money exits have provided over £100 million of funds for another major City signing, while Chelsea are open to letting Fernández leave Stamford Bridge if their valuation is met.
Fabrizio Romano also checked in to say that Fernández wants the move:
