The issue is not whether to pay $30 million. The issue is the holdout.
Every single agent of every single player on this team is watching to see whether Omar caves on JPJ. And once you cave to one player who holds out, you send a message to every other player... that "holdouts work" with the Pittsburgh Steelers. And Omar simply can't allow that (and he shouldn't).
George Pickens also wants a bigger contract than what Dallas is willing to pay. But he's not holding out. He's been at practice. He's ready to go. He's going to play the season on the tag. And then he's going to get the contract he wants from somebody next year (and the price will probably go up even more). That's not what Joey is doing.
Omar is at fault as well. If you're going to overpay a player, do it early. If you're not going to overpay him, trade him. Right then. Now you run the risk of everything escalating. Benchings. Limiting snaps. Disgruntled rumblings. Players taking sides. Poisoning the locker room. Etc.
