2025 is coming to a close, but there is still time for humanity to ask itself the eternal question: What is going on between Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez? Like, seriously. What is this relationship?
Over the weekend, Ben and Jen were spotted doing some holiday shopping with Affleck’s 13-year-old son, Samuel, whom he shares with the only other woman he knows, Jennifer Garner. Is this normal behavior for a celebrity ex-stepfamily? Or better yet, is there even a standard for “normal” behavior when it comes to being an ex-stepfamily? Society longs to know.
In photos obtained by Page Six, Ben and Samuel met Jennifer at the Farmhouse in Brentwood, where they ate and indulged in some high-end shopping at Sezane and Doene. (The ideal afternoon for a 13-year-old boy, I’m sure.) It was noted that the duo formerly known as Bennifer both arrived and left separately, so if there was any funny business, the paps didn’t catch it.
Probably just a wholesome family outing between two adults with a complicated-but-loving relationship and a child they both care for. Nothing to see here!
And yet…
One can’t help but notice that Jen was rocking a chunky knit sweater polka dot dress combo that just screams, “effortlessly beautiful look you put on to meet an ex.” And Ben was wearing…all cream? That has to mean something.
(Samuel, for what it’s worth, wore the customary “grey t-shirt and sweatpants” of a 13-year-old boy dragged out by his dad and his ex to hang out for an afternoon.)
Sure, it may have been less than a year since their marriage was officially dissolved for irreconcilable differences. And sure, one of Lopez’s friends reportedly told Page Six last August that Affleck “has a darkness to him that no other person can fix.” But who among us wouldn’t at least entertain the idea of Bennifer 3.0? In terms of 2025 celebrity events, this could be the most heart-warming news possible.
