
An overturned semi-truck near an entrance for the Stevenson Expressway prompted traffic delays and a response from police, fire and hazmat Thursday ahead of the afternoon rush hour.
Around 3:50 p.m., a semi-truck driven by a 43-year-old flipped over after the driver attempted to turn southbound and struck a viaduct near 4110 South Cicero Avenue, authorities said.
Aerial video from NBC Chicago Sky 5 showed the semi-truck on its side with police cars, an ambulance and fire trucks in the area. The overturned truck was partially beneath the railroad viaduct over Cicero Avenue, video showed.
The northbound traffic on Cicero Avenue and the entrance to I-55 from Cicero Avenue were blocked by the emergency response around 4 p.m.
Traffic delays of up to 1 hour were expected on Cicero Avenue of 4:30 p.m., according to Total Traffic.
The truck spilled fuel, prompting a hazmat response from the Chicago Fire Department.
No citations were issued and no injuries were reported, according to the Chicago Police Department.
