Four arrested after shooting near Walter Johnson High School

Four people were taken into custody after a shooting near Walter Johnson High School in Bethesda, according to Montgomery County Police.

At about 12 p.m. on Wednesday, police were called to the 6600 block of Rockledge Drive following a report of shots fired.

While the shooting did not happen on school grounds, Montgomery County Public Schools initially placed the school under secure status as a precaution. That status was later expanded to six other schools in the area.

“You think about all the different things that have happened in the past in different schools and stuff and you don’t want that to happen here. Those things are happening, unfortunately,” Rodrigo Reis, father of a Walter Johnson High School student, said.

Police have not shared what led to this shooting and who the four people who were detained are.
