Surveillance videos show Naresh Bhatt throwing trash bags into dumpsters miles from home

Some readers might find the details of this story disturbing.

Prosecutors showed new surveillance videos in court Wednesday in an effort to convince a jury that Naresh Bhatt murdered and dismembered his wife, Mamta Kafle.

“What does he appear to be doing?” the attorney asked.

“Carrying bags into the trash compactor,” the witness said.

In at least four different trips to multiple trash compactors and dumpsters, all on the day his wife was allegedly murdered, Naresh Bhatt is seen throwing heavy duty garbage bags away miles away from his home.

“He’s wearing gloves,” the witness said.

“What color gloves?” the attorney asked.

“White,” the witness said.

Video shows Bhatt making multiple trips and dumps to a dumpster at an apartment complex where he never lived three miles away from his home. The same day, he visits a trash compactor at a complex where he rented a unit but did not live at the time. He goes once during the day, and once in the middle of the night.

“Can you describe to us what he’s doing?” the attorney asked.

“Getting ready to throw more bags into the trash compactor,” the witness said.

The video also shows how he’s holding the bag: a hand sealing the bag up top and another supporting the bottom.

There’s no forensic evidence to prove to the jury what’s inside those bags, but prosecutors said in opening statements they believe it’s Kafle’s remains or what Bhatt used to clean up the crime scene.

There was some other chilling evidence that came in late Wednesday afternoon when a landscaper took the witness stand and told the jury that a couple of days after the alleged murder, he was doing some yard work on Bhatt’s neighbor’s yard. He said Bhatt came up to him, asked him if he would do some yard work on his house. In lieu of payment, Bhatt offered the landscaper an electric saw.

The landscaper accepted that as payment until a couple of weeks later, when he saw Bhatt all over the news. He then took the saw to the police. In opening statements, prosecutors told the jury that that saw was tested for blood, and blood was found inside of it.
