3 arrested, 2 schools locked down after Park Police car chase from DC to Maryland

Three people were arrested and two schools in Riverdale, Maryland, were locked down after a U.S. Park Police chase from Northeast D.C. into Maryland, authorities say.

Park Police officers tried to pull over a stolen vehicle near 51st Street and Banks Place NE at about 11:30 a.m., Park Police say.

The driver took off, and officers gave chase to Riverdale, about eight miles north.

Three people ran out of the car. Two adults were immediately detained, police said. “A third individual” entered Parkdale High School and was apprehended.

Parkdale High School and William Wirt Middle School were placed on lockdown and the status was later lifted, police said.

An investigation is underway. Police did not immediately say if the third person they detained is an adult or if they have any connection to Parkdale High.
