Riders get stuck on disabled Red Line train at Cleveland Park

Riders on Metro’s Red Line were stuck in a tunnel up to an hour when their train became disabled Monday evening.

The train bound for Shady Grove was just past the Cleveland Park station when it had a mechanical problem.

Passengers were stuck for about 45 minutes to an hour before another train arrived to carry the stranded passengers.

The backup train was moving the passengers by about 7:05 p.m.

Trains single-tracked between Dupont Circle and Van Ness. As of around 9 p.m., trains are no longer single tracking, but Metro said riders should still expect residual delays.
