A 25-year-old man whose remains were found this spring off Georgia Avenue NW was killed, authorities say. He was reported missing and then his body was found about a mile from where he was last seen.
D.C. police found Jahari Garrett’s remains in May, about a month after he went missing, at an “advanced stage of decomposition,” according to police.
While Garrett’s cause of death is still undetermined, the D.C.’s chief medical examiner ruled his manner of death a homicide.
“He was preceded in ascension by his Grandma Sophie who he loved so very much, and many other close relatives and soulmates that now sit at the feet of the Infinite as loving ancestors and spirit guides. It’s okay because they are with him now celebrating his return and ascension,” Garett’s obituary read in part.

Police asked anyone with information about the case to contact them at 202-727-9099 or text a tip to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE at 50411. Authorities are offering a reward up to $25,000 to anyone who provides details that lead to an arrest.
