A judge has ruled in favor of the Connecticut Department of Children and Families in a lawsuit filed by the family of a 7-month-old boy who was killed when his father threw him off the Arrigoni Bridge in Middletown in 2015.
The family of Aaden Moreno sued the state, arguing DCF failed to do enough to protect the baby from his father, Tony Moreno, before his death.

In a decision issued early Friday morning, the court found that the family had not proven DCF was negligent or that its actions caused Aaden’s death.
Tony Moreno is serving a 70-year prison sentence for killing his son by throwing him off the Arrigoni Bridge in July 2015.
The civil trial wrapped up in May in Waterbury, where attorneys for Aaden’s family argued DCF had enough information to intervene before the baby was killed.
“DCF had enough information available to it that they could have acted; had they done it, Aaden would now be 11 years old,” Attorney Keith McCabe, representing the family, said during closing arguments.
