Starting Monday, Connecticut residents can vote early in person for the 2026 Midterm Elections. Here are some things you’ll want to know and check before voting:
Registration
If you’re not registered to vote yet, you can sign up online until Oct. 17. The state says any application on or after Oct. 17 will not be ready for Election Day.
But voters can register in person if they vote early. Voters can also register on Election Day if they meet specific requirements.
For Election Day, same-day registration is not available at an individual’s polling place but is available at a designated location in each town, beginning at 6 am and ending at 8 pm on Election Day.
You can learn more about same-day registration here.
At the Polls
Head here to find your polling location, including early voting locations and other resources.
In Connecticut, polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., and any elector standing in line at 8 p.m. may cast a vote.
When it comes to voter ID, the state says if you do not have any photo ID or a driver’s license when asked, you can sign an affidavit instead. There are also different options for identification. Learn more about voter identification here.
If voters encounter any problems at the polls on Election Day, they’re asked to contact the Election Day Hotline at 1-866-733-2463 or send an email to elections@ct.gov. Learn more about that here.
New This Year
Something new this year is that early voting will look like Election Day. Instead of how it was before, where early ballots would be placed in an envelope and be sealed until Election Day, now voters will put their ballot directly into the tabulators.
You can learn more about the tabulators here.
