The CBFB27 was spot on in some areas this week. Opening three and outs and an Antonio Kite interception, but the rest was a tad bit off.

The Florida and Vanderbilt games have shown a glaring weakness for the coaching staff. The opening script for both games led to three and outs. In the Florida game, with no Kewan Lacy, they ran the ball three straight times. Kewan returns for the Vandy game and they throw the ball three straight times, while its raining. But there’s likely a reason I am typing this and not the offensive script.

Anyways…. Ole Miss is back on track in terms of the win column, still things to clean up going forward, but let’s have one last look at the Rebs taking over Nashville…AGAIN.

4 Plays of the Game

You already knew this was coming. The overlooked part of this play was the perfect ball placement by Trinidad Chambliss. But I, for one, did not have a Jam Brown receiving touchdown on the bingo card for the season. However, that catch…. looked natural. He went UP and got it and with soft hands. Then the cherry on top was the “Sexy Dexy” celebration with Will Echoles. Fun stuff.

How about another defensive player scoring a touchdown?! This time it was a scoop and score for Suntarine Perkins, his first score of his career. I kid you not, I was about to head outside to clean the car out during half time because I figured with the time remaining, Ole Miss would not get the ball back before the half. Boy was I WRONG. The landsharks swarmed the freshman Jared Curtis, leading to their first defensive score of the season.

Nothing crazy happened here to get the score, but it’s another fun one because on Shekai Mills-Knight’s first carry of the 2026 season, he hits the hole for 35 yards and his first career touchdown. One of the best running back recruits in Ole Miss history has the unfortunate task of waiting behind an All-American at his position. Bursts like this could enhance his touches when Lacy needs a break.

My five year old son loves Trinidad Chambliss. So when he scored to make the game 6-0, he said “They put six on the board because he’s number six!” Not quite, but there’s something to it. Six is a fitting number because all he does is score touchdowns. From 10 yards out, the initially designed run lane wasn’t there, but he did what he does and he found a way. It was great to score on the second drive and get the bad taste out of their mouth from the Swamp.

2 Players of the Game

Blake Purchase – I expect we continue to hear his name often as the year continues. There were high praises out of camp about him, and this game matched that hype. He punched the ball out from Jared Curtis that led to the Perkins scoop and score but that wasn’t all. He finished the game with two sacks contributing to his three total tackles for a loss of 13 yards.

Makhi Frazier – Now, there was nothing special about his statline. But he ran the ball for 73 yards on 13 carries, good for a 5.6 ypc average. His ability to run the ball effectively (and the score) allowed the Rebel coaching staff to rest Kewan and prevent further injury. It’s performances like this throughout a season that never get mentioned but have a massive impact.

5 Interesting Stats
