Will you have to run any software on the laptop you connect it to? If so, then it's useless for work for much of the population, who are not allowed to install software on their corporate laptops.
I think I got a vague understanding from the launch info that it could still run without software installed, in some kind of DisplayPort pass-through mode as a monitor, but many of the features would not be operable that way.
Sure, for people who do free-lance work, or work at small companies, or who work for themselves and own their work laptop or PC this could come in handy, but for many of us even if we do own home laptops / PCs our actual workday is required to be done on laptops that are locked down (and circumventing these security controls is grounds for termination).
