Someway, somehow, EA Sports has the Vanderbilt Commodores ranked 18th in the polls. Not how the Vandy season has gone in real life. The game simulations are never 100% accurate, but that one seems a little wild.

Well, for the second straight contest, Ole Miss is headed on the road, and in the video game world, taking on ANOTHER ranked opponent. Can they fix their defensive woes and right the ship?

1st Quarter

Bleh. This was quite the rough opening for both offenses. Multiple three and outs for both squads through the first few possessions. Finally, Ole Miss was able to pick Jared Curtis off in Vandy territory towards the end of the quarter. Trinidad Chambliss promptly connected on a 40 yard bomb to Deuce Alexander to open the scoring.

End of the 1st: 7-0 Ole Miss

2nd Quarter

That touchdown strike seemed to be all the Rebel offense needed to get going as they scored on three straight possessions. Chambliss and Deuce connected for their second touchdown of the game before Kewan Lacy added two scores of his own. The defense absolutely thwarted any Vanderbilt attempt to get something started. They never even got into field goal range in the first half.

End of the 2nd: 28-0 Ole Miss

3rd Quarter

In the SEC you can never go into cruise control. Leads can evaporate rather quickly. The Commodores opened the half with a touchdown drive, ending with a 20 yard pass from Curtis to Junior Sherrill. The Rebels answered with a 5o yard field goal from Lucas Carneiro while playing the time of possession game.

End of the 3rd: 31-7 Ole Miss

4th Quarter

Curtis was able to get the Commodores on the board again with a 15 yard strike to Cole Adams. That was quickly matched by Lacy’s third touchdown run of the game. Will Echoles had a massive quarter with three sacks, silencing all Vandy hope of a miracle.

Final: 38-14 Ole Miss

Story of the Stats

The craziest stat was a -0.1 yard per rush for Vanderbilt. They ran the ball 23 times for a total of 2 yards. Oh what a turnaround that would be in real life.

Ole Miss won every single statistical category in the game, finishing with 475 yards of total offense. Trinidad was an efficient 21-27 for 287 yards while adding 53 on the ground. Lacy finished with 103 yards to accompany his three scores. Deuce Alexander had seven catches for 116 yards.

Antonio Kite was the second leading tackler with six and had the first quarter interception. Tony Mitchell led the Rebs with seven tackles. Echoles accounted for all three sacks in the contest.
