49ers owner Jed York has been suspended for six games for a violation of the league’s personal conduct policy.
York, who was also hit with a $500,000 fine, has stayed away from the team for the first three games of the 2026 season, in addition to league meetings, after pleading no contest to two misdemeanor charges on August 24 after being arrested in Ohio. He was arrested on suspicion of engaging in prostitution.
The league will count those three games toward his six-game ban, meaning he will be able to return on Tuesday, Oct. 20.
A statement from York read: “Today, the NFL concluded its review, and I accept its decision in full.
“To my family, to the players, coaches, and employees of the San Francisco 49ers, to our fans and partners, I am deeply sorry. This was an inexcusable mistake, and I take full responsibility. What I did does not reflect my values or the man I strive to be for my family.
“While I fell short of the model I want to set for my sons, I now hope to show them the importance of owning up to one’s failures, and that even our worst moments teach us to be better.
“Leading the 49ers is a privilege, and one I don’t take lightly. Your trust will have to be earned back over time, and I look forward to that work ahead.”
The first 49ers game following the end of his suspension is the Week 7 road game with the Atlanta Falcons on Oct. 25.
With San Francisco having a bye after that trip to the Southeast, the first home game York can attend will be the meeting with the 49ers’ old Bay Area rivals, the Las Vegas Raiders, on Nov. 8.
