The San Francisco 49ers’ final injury report is out. The following players were ruled out:
DT James Thompson Jr.
DE Nick Bosa
DE Mykel Williams
These players are questionable:
WR Mike Evans
LB Dre Greenlaw
DE Keion White
LB Jaden Dugger
Kyle Shanahan said Dugger suffered a shoulder injury during Thursday’s practice, which is why he’s listed on the injury report.
Evans will be a game-time decision with his rib injury. Shanahan compared his rib injury to Evans, saying, “he’s definitely a lot tougher than me. Hopefully, he’s got a shot.”
Brandin Cooks will make his 49ers debut on Sunday. Here’s what Shanahan said he’s seen from Cooks:
“He’s had a good two weeks. Came in last week, right away, learning the stuff. I thought it was good last week, and even better this week the more comfortable he looks. Excited to have him here.”
The 49ers are hoping Christian Kirk can return to practice two weeks from now. They’re not expecting Kirk to return next week, but after that, “Hopefully, he gets there.”
Newly signed wide receiver Dante Pettis hurt his calf during Thursday’s practice. So, if Evans can’t play, it’ll likely be Malik Turner elevated from the practice squad, unless Pettis recovers.
The good news is that it sounds like Evans has a plan to play through the pain. Evans told reporters that he’ll play with a built-in compression shirt with padding in it, something he said he’s used before to play through a similar injury: “It was brutal to play through, but it’s something that I can do.”
