A 100-pound pig found a new home just minutes after it was announced on social media Wednesday that the animal is available for adoption.
Honey the pig was admitted to Pasadena Humane when her initial owner became unable to care for her, the organization said, saying the animal is “as sweet as her name.”
“This adorable pig is so friendly and comes right up to the front of her kennel to greet new people. We absolutely love her,” Pasadena Humane said on social media.
Shortly after Honey’s story and pictures circulated online, someone reached out to Pasadena Humane and said he or she can adopt the pig, the nonprofit confirmed to NBCLA.
Like dogs and cats, pigs need veterinary care as well as right nutrition, enrichment and space, according to Pasadena Humane.
Some cities of Southern California allow pet owners to raise pigs while other don’t. For example, South Pasadena, Monrovia, Sierra Madre and Bradbury residents are allow to have pigs, but those in the cities of Los Angeles, Pasadena, Arcadia, Glendale and La Cañada-Flintridge are prohibited.
“Pigs are smart, social, and can make wonderful pets,” Pasadena Humane said.
