Two brothers were arrested after Riverside police stopped an SUV outfitted with police-style lights and sirens that investigators believe may have been used to impersonate officers, authorities said.
Officers stopped an all-black Ford Explorer about 2 a.m. Sept. 16 near Magnolia Avenue and McKinley Street for alleged vehicle code violations.
Police identified the driver as Bryan Rodriguez Villareal, 29, of Corona.
The investigation led officers to conduct a probation search of Villarreal’s Corona residence, where police said they found four assault rifles, five handguns, more than 2,000 rounds of ammunition and high-capacity magazines.
Police also arrested Villarreal’s brother, 30-year-old Alejandro Padilla Villareal, who investigators allege assisted with criminal activity.
Investigators believe the Explorer may have been used to impersonate police and conduct illegal activity in the Magnolia Corridor area, authorities said.
Both men were on probation and were booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center on multiple charges and probation holds.
