The UN General Assembly commenced its first day of the high-level General Debate for the 81st session in New York on Tuesday—a time for world leaders to share their priorities, as well as discuss major international issues. Alas, it wouldn’t be a good ol’ meeting of international bodies without the leader of the free world proceeding to shove his foot directly into his mouth, and make a bid for the Hague on his way there.
Speaking to the representatives of some 193 countries, Trump brought up a potential peace deal with Iran when he floated two possible outcomes, one being eons more genocide-curious than the other.
“I have a big decision to make,” he said. “Will a deal be made with Iran that lets them rebuild and create a far greater country than it ever was before? Maybe one of the greatest in the Middle East, or even the world? Or! Do I annihilate the Islamic Republic, and do it quickly, never giving them a chance to kill and destroy countries again?”

Yikes! Unfortunately… it got worse.
“Do I drive them into hell with no chance of survival and no hope of future greatness of generations?” He then added: “But I believe we’ll make a deal right after the election.”
Mind you, this marks at least three times that Trump’s openly dreamed of trouncing the country, with the first being in April, when he warned on Truth Social that “a whole civilization will die tonight”; and the second being in May, when he said he’d have War Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth “finish them off.” Hegseth has also dabbled in his own fantasies of human rights violations, praying during a mandatory Pentagon prayer session for an “overwhelming violence of action” to take place in the war, and saying on 60 Minutes in March that “the only ones who need to be worried right now are the Iranians that think they’re going to live.”
During his 40-minute speech, Trump added that Iran is “waiting” to see how he performs in the midterms, adding also: “What they don’t realize is that I’m not running.” (Does he realize that!?) He also rattled off his own accomplishments, bragging, for one, about his strides in curbing illegal immigration. Which is a funny way of pointing out… ICE is as lawless as ever. He also called Cuba an “absolutely failed state,” said communism would “never” come to America, and reiterated his love for AI—calling on people to rename it “super intelligence.”
Now, I don’t know if there’s a B.S. quota on these things… but this was only Day 1 of a six-day event. Which leaves five more days for some escalator sabotage, I guess.
