An elderly couple in their 80s was found dead inside a Newbury Park house after deputies conducted a wellness check at the home, Ventura County authorities said Tuesday.
The sheriff’s office said a man called Monday morning to request that deputies check on his family members, saying he was unable to reach them. When deputies arrived at the house on Lucas Court, they found the married couple.
The husband was identified as 89-year-old Aleksander Tukalski, and the wife was identified as 86-year-old Kazia Berlach Tukalska, according to the sheriff’s office.
A weapon was recovered from the home.
The sheriff’s death investigation has been completed, and there is no threat to the public, officials said.
“Detectives believe this is an isolated incident,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
The Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office is working to determine the cause and manner of the deaths.
