What you see is what you get: clouds and rain all the way through the end of Wednesday.
High pressure over northern New England and low pressure over the Tennessee Valley will combine to deliver a steady northeast wind that will deliver an abundance of moisture.
Most of the area will get at least 1 to 1.5 inches of rain with this storm with higher amounts to the southwest of the D.C. metro area. Central Virginia and the foothills of the Blue Ridge could easily get 2 to 2.5 inches.
The steadiest rain comes Tuesday, but the final drops won’t fall until late Wednesday night or Thursday morning.

Drier air will finally arrive Thursday, which will see a mix of clouds and sun, and the weekend looks good for outdoor activities.
Increasing sunshine for Friday and the weekend will help us get back to around 70°.
Friday and Saturday will be nice. There’s a chance of rain Sunday, but otherwise it will be a beautiful day.
A system off the coast of the Carolinas could reach tropical storm strength Thursday and Friday as it moves north but should not impact the D.C. area.
