An employee at a senior living facility in South Los Angeles shot and injured three co-workers, officials confirmed Monday.
The shooting was reported at around 10:50 a.m. on Denver Avenue near Florence Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. There is a retirement home called Progressive Home for the Elderly located on Denver Avenue.
The senior housing facility houses about 100 elderly people, according to LA Councilmember Marqueece Harris-Dawson whose district includes South LA.
When responding officers enter the facility, they found the three victims in the lobby. Following a “systematic search,” the officers also located the gunman in the six-story building, police said.
Police detained the suspect, described as a man in his 60s, as officers requested three ambulances for the injured.
One of the victims was in critical conditions while two others were in stable condition.
No resident of the senior living facility was injured, according to police.
There is no threat to the public, the LAPD said.
