A man was fatally shot following a possible theft at a gas station in Claremont, officials confirmed Monday.
The shooting was reported at about 9:40 a.m. on South Indian Hill Boulevard near the 10 Freeway, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
After authorities were alerted by a gas station patron, deputies responded on foot. When a man armed with a knife suddenly charged at them, at least one deputy opened fire, the sheriff’s department said.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. A knife was recovered.
No deputies or civilians were injured.
