Details of this story are disturbing.
A man was found dead hanging outside Sunday morning in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.
According to people who witnessed the incident, the man was Black and was found hanging from a tree.
It happened just before 8 a.m. on Darcy Road, right near Sandsbury Road.
First responders pronounced the man dead at the scene.
Investigators believe he died by suicide and said they did not find any evidence of foul play. The medical examiner will ultimately determine his official cause of death.
The incident has the community on edge. During a widely attended virtual call with the community Sunday, County Executive Ayesha Braveboy and Prince George’s County Police Chief George Nader addressed residents’ concerns. They said there was no harm to the wider community.
Prince George’s County Police also released a statement that said, in part, “We understand this incident is both disturbing and painful to residents — who may have driven by the scene — or learned about this incident throughout the day.”
Community members are being asked to call Prince George’s County police if they have any information about the case.
