Despite missing most of this week’s practices, Baltimore Ravens left tackle Ronnie Stanley (toe) and left guard John Simpson (groin) will play in the team’s home opener on Sunday afternoon against the New Orleans Saints.
So, too, will outside linebacker Trey Hendrickson (finger). None of the three veteran starters were listed among the Ravens’ inactives for Week 2.
The Ravens had already downgraded wide receiver Zay Flowers (hamstring) to out on Saturday, depriving Lamar Jackson of his favorite target. But the two-time MVP will still have his starting offensive line, though Stanley’s status in particular still seems tenuous heading into the game. The 32-year-old barely participated in Friday’s practice and Baltimore elevated Gerad Lichtenhan from the practice squad seemingly in preparation for his absence. Stanley felt good enough to play in his warm-up, but he could still rotate with second-year swing tackle Carson Vinson during the game.
With Simpson active, the Ravens will keep Andrew Vorhees on the sideline for a second week in a row with Emery Jones ready to step in at guard if needed. This also indicates that Jones, not Vorhees, would have started in Simpson’s place had he been unable to play this week.
The Saints will be without second-round defensive tackle Christen Miller due to a toe injury he picked up on Friday, but star wide receiver Chris Olave is active as the biggest threat to Baltimore’s defense. Here is New Orleans’ full list of inactives:
