It is game time, Hawkeye fans!
For the third straight week, your Iowa Hawkeyes are set to play host as they close out their non-conference slate with the Northern Iowa Panthers.
The Panthers come to town with a 1-1 record after thrashing Drake in their own home opener a week ago, bouncing back from a season opening loss to Eastern Washington. UNI has been a bit tough to pin down, offensively, outside of their leader under center in Jaxon Dailey.
Dailey comes to Kinnick with a 71% completion percentage and more than 500 yards passing on the young season. Perhaps just as impressively, he’s found paydirt three times this year on the ground.
Will Phil Parker be able to contain Dailey both on the ground and through the air?
And on the other side of the ball, we expect the Hawkeyes to be to lean on the Panthers up front and establish the run, but what will the passing game look like with DJV sidelined? What will the timeshare look like between Hank Brown and Jeremy Hecklinski after Brown took all the snaps a week ago while KF insists the competition is not yet settled?
Can either of them be the first Iowa QB to top 300 yards in a game since Nate Stanley did it back in 2019? It would be fitting in the first rematch with UNI since Stanley threw for 308 against them back in 2018.
