The Washington Mystics won against the Chicago Sky on Thursday night, 110-80.
Washington remained firmly in control in this one. This game came down to forcing the Chicago Sky into mistakes (16 turnovers) and being super efficient on offense (shooting 55 percent from the field).
The Sky’s 16 turnovers led to 22 Mystics’ points. Washington did an excellent job keeping the pace up, using those turnovers to get into early offense before the Sky could get set on defense.
The combination of Kiki Iriafen and Shakira Austin was a huge factor in this one, as both were the game’s two highest scorers. Both were dominant, picking up the offensive output with Sonia Citron being out in this one. Cotie McMahon, who also played well, started in place of Citron and contributed 11 points, on 5 of 7 shooting.
Washington put all five starters in double figures, leading by as much as 30 points.
The Mystics’ next game is against the Indiana Fever at 4 p.m. ET at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Playoff implications will be on the line in that one.
