Maryland women’s cross country began its season September 4 with a comfortable win in the Delaware invitational. In their second race of the year, the Spiked Shoe Invitational, the Terps faced some incredibly competitive opponents but still finished fifth overall.
Junior Eva Rogers led the way for Maryland, recording a 21:25 in the 6 kilometer race, while sophomore Katie Dutko took second. Senior Rose Coats, who was all-Big Ten first team in cross country last year, placed third on the team.
Following the Spiked Shoe, the Terps have a bit of an extended break. Maryland’s next race will come at the Paul Short Invitational on Oct. 2 in Bethlehem, Penn.
