BYU went into half down 17-14, but shut out the Wildcats in the second half in a 28-17 win over Arizona Saturday afternoon in Provo.
After allowing 240 yards to Arizona in the second half, BYU’s defense dominated in the second . Arizona in the second half mustered only 87 total yards, including -2 rushing yards. BYU held the Wildcats to 1-5 on third down and 0-1 on fourth down.
BYU’s offense had zero turnovers for the second straight week and scored touchdowns each time they got in the redzone. After just 4 carries in the first half, LJ Martin had 20 total carries on the game and finished with 98 rushing yards and 27 receiving yards. Bear Bachmeier was 16/26 with 217 yards and 3 TDs; he added 37 rushing yards and 1 rushing TD. Legend Glasker led BYU with 74 receiving yards, including a 61-yard catch that helped seal the game. 6-foot-6 Kyler Kasper showed how dangerous he is in the redzone, scoring 2 TDs and finishing with 4 receptions for 51 yards.
BYU is 2-0 on the season and heads on the road for the first time next week when they play at Colorado State at 5:30MT on CBS.
