ABOUT THE GAME

  • TCU opens its home slate with a matchup against Grambling State under the new LED lights at Amon G. Carter Stadium on Saturday.
  • The game marks TCU’s first game against an HBCU since 2019, when the Horned Frogs took down UAPB.
  • TCU has had a great deal of offensive success in home openers, scoring at least 30 points in its last 18 openers in The Carter.
  • In the two programs’ one and only meeting, No. 20 TCU took down Grambling State 56-0. The matchup was the first game in the renovated Amon G. Carter Stadium, as well as the Frogs’ first as a member of the Big 12.
  • TCU has four players from Louisiana while Grambling’s roster features eight Texans including five from the DFW Metroplex.

GRAMBLING NOTES

  • Saturday’s contest marks just the second meeting between Grambling State and TCU.
  • The Horned Frogs lead the all-time series, 1-0, with the previous meeting taking place in Fort Worth during the 2012 season.
  • Grambling State is 8-26 all-time versus current Division I FBS programs.
  • Grambling State enters Saturday’s contest unbeaten at 2-0 following consecutive home victories over Clark Atlanta and Central State. 
  • The Tigers opened the season with a 49-7 victory over Clark Atlanta before defeating Central State, 48-26, on Sept. 5.
  • GSU has scored 97 points through its first two games while allowing 33.
  • The Tigers have been particularly effective offensively, totaling 1,128 yards through two games.
  • Against Central State, Grambling State produced 644 yards of total offense, including 361 rushing yards and 283 passing yards. The Tigers averaged 9.5 yards per play and converted 9 of 12 third-down opportunities.
