Last week was a bloodbath for ya boi One Man To Beat.
I blame it on too much caffeine when making my picks last week, just a whole pot of coffee to the dome before writing the post is bad business. This week we’re switching it up and writing while sipping Tito’s on the rocks with some lime wedges. How could it be much worse?!
We went 0-4 last week, and now we’re sitting in some Coach O circa 2005-2007 territory at 2-5 going into week two. What a time to lose your ass at the sportsbook. As soon as three of our four locks were on Clay Travis’ picks of the week, I had a feeling much like the time I ate at an Indian buffet in Birmingham, Alabama – uneasy, sweaty and regretting the impending doom to soon occur.
Nevertheless, scared money don’t make money.
College Football Week Two LOCKS
- Arkansas at Utah (-12.5) – Arky looked pretty mediocre last week with new coach Ryan Silverfield at the helm against North Alabama. Utah beat the brakes off Idaho, so there’s a good feeling the Utes may just blast the Hogs in the mountains(idk maybe?) on Saturday night.
- Villanova at Louisville (-36.5) – It’s a recency bias pick, and it’s a believing that Louisville is a legit ball team pick. Villanova is an FCS team, and the Cardinals should be able to name the score. A 40-point or more win would not be surprising in the least.
- Sacred Heart at Massachusetts (-23.5) – UMass smacked Rutgers in week zero, so why not throw a couple hundred on them to dominate Sacred Heart? The Minutemen get it done on a Saturday afternoon.
- Charlotte at Ole Miss (O/U 60.5) – The busiest job in Oxford on Saturday better be the scoreboard operator. First and foremost, I’d like to see about 50+ points from the Rebels, and some action for Deuce Knight at quarterback in the second half. I’d also be fine if the starters get a break late and if Charlotte has a garbage tuddy to hit the over we all can get paid.
Week Two POISON
- Mississippi St. at Minnesota (-1.5) – Kamario Taylor looked great against ULM, but how well this team travels is left to be seen. I’ve got a feeling this could be a game that is huge for the Bulldogs or the Gophers however it plays out.
- Duke at Illinois (-5.5) – Duke had a solid season opener against Tulane, but its hard to know how good the Green Wave are now that Jon Sumrall has departed. Illinois won fairly handily against UAB, but this game has enough questions and a weird line to stay away.
