Spain defeated Japan 79-59 on Monday to improve to 2-1 in Group play at the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup.
Spain jumped out to a 23-15 lead before Japan brought its deficit to just three points at halftime. A big second half propelled Spain to the win.
Mystics guard Alicia Florez scored six points and added seven rebounds. She missed all three of of her field-goal attempts but went a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line.
Spain has won Group A and clinched a spot in the quarterfinals.
